Starbucks app leading the way

Starbucks recently came out with an application so that you can pay with your iphone or blackberry, which could start the trend of the smartphone eliminating the need for cash or credit card. Starbucks tested the program and found that it is faster to pay with your phone than any other method. Other companies are already starting to jump on the bandwagon. Some restaurants are already using a program called "TextMyFood". This program allows customers to directly communicate with their server by texting them. They can text to either place an order or to just get a refill on water. This goes to show you that Starbucks innovation is already catching on. Hopefully in the near future we will be able to walk around without the need of a wallet. Even though this sounds like a dream come true, security is a major issue that has people worried. If the programmers can promise us security, then soon you will be able to walk around with more room in your pockets.

  1. The innovation that Starbucks has shown through the use of the smart phone purchasing will become a norm in the near future. The smart phone capabilities are only going to increase. I agree with you that security will be the major concern with consumers using the system, but with new security measures the company can easily overcome any threat.
